Our Story

Edney Construction Company was founded in 1986 by owner John Edney. We began doing small remodeling jobs and today we are building custom homes as large as 10,000 square feet. We  are in our 35th year of building beautiful Homes.

Each home we build is highly customized to match the desires of the homeowners and architects who come to us to build that special home. Almost all of our business comes through word-of-mouth and the referrals of previous customers and architects that we work with. We think that alone is the best indicator that we are living up to and exceeding the high expectations our customers expect.

Edney Construction Company is licensed in both North and South Carolina. We are members of the Rutherford County Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. John is also  an active Drummer/Vocalist in two local bands. How’s that for versatility?

If you have any questions you’d like to ask simply contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!

FAQ

Q: How long will my job take?

A: Since we build custom homes based on customer and architect designs there is hard to quote a standard price per square foot or ballpark figure. We analyze each job individually to determine costs.

Q: Do you do remodeling projects?

A: Generally we do larger remodeling projects such as additions, complete interior redesign, or historical properties such as our work on the renovation of the Cotton Patch Farm in Tryon, North Carolina.

Q: How long have you been working with the subcontractors you use?

A: All of our subcontractors have been working with us for a minimum of five years, and some have even been with us since we opened for business in 1986. Our experience over the years has allowed us to form solid relationships with subcontractors we can depend on.

Q: How long will it take to build my house?

A: The design of the house, weather conditions, etc. can all impact the schedule for building your home but in general it is a nine to twelve month process.

Q: When can you start?

A: Due to the fact we always have ongoing projects we typically will have a three to six months lead time before we can start a new project. All dependent on our workload.
